Job DescriptionsHere are ten things that you can do to employee retention.

  • See that rules are not so rigid that employees are frustrated be it dress code or use of social networks
  • Make it easy for employees to learn new skills and let them apply them to tasks they are assigned to
  • Actively listen to you staff on what is good and what needs to be improved
  • Do things as a group — play together and have group lunches or pizza outings
  • See that employees can get deals on company products or extend offers to let them purchase computer equipment at the same prices that you get
  • Have internal contests which will let employees get recognition and prizes for doing the “right things”
  • Be positive about what employees are doing and encourage them praise
  • Establish clear goals and guidelines for what is expected of employees and see that it is included in their job descriptions and performance evaluations
  • Back up your employees with users and management and do not pass blame on to them when things do not go as expected or required
  • Be consistent in your promotion and compensation policies and do not play favorites
