Unemployment picture looking better but…

Unemployment remains over 8% in 14 states

Unemployment picture is looking better in many parts of the country, however some states continue to see levels are 8% and above.   Included are some of the most populated states like Illinois, California, and New Jersey.

The BLS said:

“Regional and state rates were generally little changed in April.
Forty states and the District of Columbia had unemployment rate decreases, three states had increases, and seven states had no change, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Forty-three states and the District of Columbia had rate decreases from a year earlier, while seven states had increases. The national jobless rate was little changed in April, at 7.5 percent, but was 0.6 percentage point lower than a year earlier.”

As it is easily seen the unemployment percentages seem to be improving in most of the high unemployment rate states.
